Moths

Half asleep on your lawn
Staring at the moon
Isn’t it nice to swoon?
Oh please, babe, stand still, stand still
I’m much too tired to stand
Let alone, let alone, keep up with
You
You beat me every time
But I’m having such a marvelous time
Trying to keep up with you
You promised you’d let me win
Tell me, where have you been?
Where are you going?
Are you mine to
Keep
This fire going
Keep the wine flowing
Oh I think I saw your neighbours spying on us
Oh what a show
We’ll have them laughing and crying every Friday
Night
Falls in our laps
It traps us like moths in its flaps
And hides inside of
You
You distance me every time
But I’m having a stupendous time
Trying to keep up with you
You promised you’d let me in
Let me get under your skin
And into your head
Oh your dreams I will
Teach
To every child on every street
To every single person that we’ll meet
We will carefully lay out every single detail
Add colour, taste, scent on a full-blown scale
Replicate, duplicate, your best dreams to contemplate
Lick, scratch, bite, tear, slap, tug … oh wait !
Oh please wait !
Why won’t you … why won’t you wait ?

Stone

The city woke up last night and realised that everyone had gone. It lay still and listened as the wind blew through every opened window, into every abandoned room and hall and back out into the streets. Every single sound that had once emerged from its core started playing simultaneously, centuries of urban life in a deafening roar. As the rumble increased, the city started to sing :
« Oh I will be fine
Oh I’ll be alright
My walls are made out of stone
Go ahead and disappear
I’ll be around in a thousand years
The witness that you all were once here »
As the echoes continued to bellow from the empty streets and corridors, the city lay still and dreamed of archeologists coming to its rescue, rediscovering its long forgotten beauty.
« Oh I’ll be alright
Oh I will be fine
My walls are made out of stone »

The City Started To Sing

The mermaids went mad
The sea grew terrified and sad
Their voices broke and they cried
The day that Conway Savage died
The songs sulked when they heard the news
The singers grew old and confused
And looked for unknown places to hide
The day that Conway Savage died
The lonely grew lonelier
And chanted in their sleep
A sorrow so deep and wide
Oh bring it on, bring it on
That harmonium that weeps
‘Cause today, Conway Savage died

Jennifer Sleeps
04:42
|

Jennifer sleeps all night
She sleeps until noon
When Jennifer sleeps
I’m awake and howling at the moon
When Jennifer wakes
She sings and whistles a lively tune
When Jennifer sings
I’m asleep, I’m dreaming of the moon
Jennifer’s voice is so deep
It’s deep as the sea
Jennifer’s voice is so deep
It hypnotizes me
When Jennifer sings her tune
It puts me to sleep
When Jennifer sings her tune
I weep in my sleep
Jennifer sleeps all night
She sleeps until noon
When Jennifer sleeps
I’m awake and longing for the moon
When Jennifer wakes
She puts me to sleep with her tune
When Jennifer sings
I’m asleep and dreaming of the moon

J’apprends torrent
J’apprends disparaissant
Le torrent dans la cage
Le saccage des images
Les visions…
Par le réseau des tendres nervures
L’écartèlement des écorces
Le passage du feu dans les bruyères
Squamata Carnea Ovata
Bleu saphir Bleu joyau
La nuit nous buvons le lait des étoiles
Et du sommet des monts
Nous jetons encore des regards heureux vers le ciel

Oh my sweet love
Let me tell you how I was born
On the edge of an island, on the edge of a cliff
And how I plan to die right here on the edge of your lips
I’m an insular kind of guy
I have insular kinds of dreams
Of waves and foam
And spit and grit
Of merciless waves beating at my door
Of merciless waves tearing down my walls
Of a pitiless sea slapping me sore
I sit near the stove
Listening as the door caves in
As my ceiling caves in
And as my forever loving mermaids
Carry me out to doom
Call for a search party!
Call for a search party!
Call for a search party!
Call for a search party!
Call for a search party!
Listen to the fishermen’s wives scream
« My true love is lost in an insular wet dream »
